A Day To Reflect and Remember

Today is Memorial Day. I know it is "celebrated" with barbecues, trips to the lake and other outings by many and I don't condemn anyone for doing those things. For many it is the first long weekend they've had in awhile and it feels good to just get out. Nothing wrong with that.

I don't say "Happy Memorial Day". Because it is a somber day to reflect on the sacrifice others have made, that phrase feels wildly inappropriate. There have been many men and women that have stood in our defense and protected the freedoms of our Country. People fought and died for the freedoms I enjoy. There were people that stood and faced enemies that sought to destroy this Country even before I was born, but they stood there with an eye to the future, MY future. They felt to their bones that this Country was worth defending and protecting. I feel their sacrifice to my bones. I wish I could hug each and every one and tell them it was not in vain. That I am ever so thankful for all they did. EVERY DAY. My freedoms were paid for with their lives. They get recognition a few days of the year, but their contributions are with us every day in the things we enjoy, the moments we treasure.

So today, as you enjoy the extra day off from work, the extra hours to laugh and enjoy family and friends, I hope you'll take a few of those moments to reflect and say a thank you to those that sacrificed all they had in the hopes that everyone after them would be free.

Remember Them. Honor Them. They bled and died for THIS.
And THIS represents US. The People. We ARE the UNITED STATES of AMERICA.

Bake It With Holi In The Kichen Silicone Spatulas

This post contains affiliate links

Cooking isn't my favorite thing. My mom always made delicious meals when we were growing up, my dad does outstanding grill and smoker creations and he and my sister make beautiful cakes.
I don't mind cooking, but I'm not terribly creative in the kitchen. I think that takes some of the joy out of it. One thing I have found that is essential to keep the frustration level to a minimum, is good cooking tool and utensils.
I received a set of Holi in the Kitchen Silicone Spatulas to review and I love not only the look, but also the performace of these!

Paracord almost used to be a military secret. Not many civilins knew about it or it's many uses. It has really become more widely known, especially as it exploded as a craft material.
I received a 100 foot bundle of Titan Genuine Military 550 Paracord to review and I was excited! I had wanted to learn to make bracelets and this allowed me the opportunity.

Brush Up Your Make-Up Routine! Xtava Make Up Brush Set

This post contains affiliate links

I remember a time when I though any 'ol brush would do for putting on my make up. Then they  would immediately start shedding bristles and were rough on my face.... :/ I was naive to think quality didn't matter.
I don't wear make up like I did when I was younger, but I do wear regular make up occasionally and I do of course wear my "clown" make up! I was excited to receive this Makeup Brushes Set from Xtava to review and compare the difference to the brushes I bought not long ago.
First I can say there is a big difference! Big. H.U.G.E.! I bought all new brushes just a few months ago because the ones I had were old and bristles were falling out at a rapid rate. Not good with grease paint because they stick in the paint and you end up messing up your makeup trying to get them out.
The ones I bought seemed okay. They worked for the most part, but felt a little rough on my skin. Then after just a few uses, I started seeing those pesky bristles in my makes up. Grrrrr!
So this set of Xtava brushes arrived just when I needed them. These are the best brushes I have ever let touch my face! They are SO soft, it almost doesn't seem possible.
The set of seven brushes includes everything you need for smooth application and a prefessional look. Included are the Powder Brush, Foundation Brush, Kabuki Brush, Precision Eyebrow Definer Brush, Eye Shadow Base Brush, Eye Shader Brush and the Lip Brush.

They all work beautifully to apply makeup smoothly. This set contains a blend of both natural and synthetic bristles. The natural bristles attract and deposit powdered products and the synthetic bristles of the liquid brushes ensure absorbtion and streak-free results. The lip brush is pushed out when the lid is placed on the end and it retracts into the barrel when the cap removed from the end. It efficiently keeps our lip color from getting all over the inside of the storage case.
In addition to the super soft bristles, the brushes are feather-light and easy to hold. They come in a beautiful storage case that makes it easy to take them on the go with you. The case itself is attractive, with a leather-likefeel to it.  There is a zippered pouch inside for small accessories, eyeshadow singles, etc.

When it is time to replace your makeup brushes the Xtava 7 pc Makeup Brushes Set is one that offers luxury feel without a luxury price.
