3,000 Fan Giveaway!

The Happy Clown With A Frown has passed 3,000 fans on Facebook!! Wow! I am amazed, humbled and grateful!!
To Celebrate I want to have a little giveaway. As I write this our temperatures have plummeted back down to freezing and there is a threat of some sleet and snow... BUT Hopefully this will get you in the mood for Spring and Summer!

Ball Canning Supplies Giveaway

I have a few things to help you get started canning when your garden is ready for harvest or you buy those delicious fresh fruits and veggies from the local Farmer's Market. Included are :

1 - The Ball Blue Book Guide to Preserving
1 - Collapsible Funnel that fits both regular and wide mouth jars
4 - pouches of Classic Pectin (makes 2 half pint jars each)

What gardening tip do you have to share? I do a few things every year to help my garden be healthy and productive:

Tip 1: I save our egg shells, coffee and tea grounds all year and in the spring I crush the shells and mix them and the grounds together. After tilling the ground and getting any weeds out of the way, I spread the shells and grounds mix over the ground and till it again.

Tip 2: I line my rows with newspaper (and junk mail)... a layer of about 7 to 9 layers thick will block weeds from being able to grow and you won't have to spend a lot of time weeding!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

We live in an apartment in west Texas--so no garden. DH did try to make prickly pear jelly once. It was more like syrup when he was done.

That Honeywell air purifier would be awesome for me! I have so many allergies!

I love to grow thing (or try to!) too much.. I would have to do container gardening or something. I go over board with my outdoor garden and end up giving food to our other family members... You could do a container on a patio or balcony with one or two each of tomato plants, bell pepper lettuce.... These are some of the ones that are pretty easy. Tomatoes can grow very tall if you just let them, but you can snip them with scissors to keep them the size you want.

I have grown a few herbs in pots... I have already bought some seed and will be getting some plants from my mom's in the next few weeks so I can have a variety. I don't know why I didn't do them sooner because they are pretty easy. They add so much flavor to food too!!

I grow some mint in my back yard but I have plans to eventually grow an entire garden! I'm still a newcomer to gardening so I don't have much advice to offer quite yet :)

Don't feel bad Ellen... I jumped in with both feet several years ago.. Did not know what I was doing! It is a very calming experience though.. well once the tilling is done! Each year as I got more comfortable I just added more and more to the variety of things I grow.. About three years ago I jumped in and grew a bunch of Birdhouse Gourds! Now THAT is fun!! I grow, harvest and dry them and then use them for craft projects. As fun as it is, I have not canned mine yet! :0 I plan to this year though.. Food is getting too pricey!

Bananas is something I have always wanted! What kind do you grow and how long did it take before you had fruit on the plant?
