Spring is FINALLY trying to make an appearance around here and with that will come the chirping of new baby birds, new cows in pastures, new kittens, rolly polly puppies and all the cute critters we love to snuggle. But it also brings hoards of the not-so-cute and cuddly, disgusting creatures like mice, rats and insects.
I received theUltrasonic Pest Repeller from Brilliante to review and I am hoping to head off the spring explosion of those critters that are not of the adorable variety.
We live in a rural area and for several years I never really gave much thought to mice and the messes they cause simply because we never had a problem with them.
There used to be lots of chicken houses on farms and properties all around us and with the abundance of feed and other things for them to eat, they didn't bother the homes.
The tornado outbreak of April 2011 changed all that. Most of the chicken houses were destroyed or severely damaged. Most of the ones that were damaged were either torn down and the majority of the farmers never rebuilt and retired from raising chickens.
Without those chicken houses, there was less easy food for the mice and less than a year after the tornadoes many people around here started finding they were having problems that they had not had before.
After trying several things, one of the most effective things we found that trapped the mice was sticky traps. Totally grosses me out though! Plus those are for AFTER the little demons are inside the house.
With the Ultrasonic Pest Repeller, the goal is to repel those creatures from even wanting to be around in the first place and to be able to do it in a non-toxic way. It even has four different settings that you can activate independently to tailor your treatment preferences.
While you won't hear anything, the Ultrasonic Pest Repeller emits sounds frequencies that deter the creatures. The electromagnetic and ultrasonic modes disturbs pests hidden in walls and deter those that would seek to move in by varying the electromagnetic frequency of the in-wall wiring without impacting electronic equipment. These are used to target mice or to deter bats, ants, cockroaches and other crawling insects.
The Negative Ion and O3 modes help eliminate odors, airborne pollutants and to reduce virus and bacteria levels.
Each of the four functions has in independent on/off switch, giving you control over which functions you want to use. For example, if you have sensitive pets like rabbits, gerbils, or hamsters, you can switch off the ultrasonic mode so it doesn't bother them.
The front of the unit features subtle LED lights that blink intermittently to indicate which features are active.
I have placed this unit upstairs in my laundry room. It is near the attic space and our bedrooms, but away from the bunnies. We have in the past caught mice up there so I am hoping this ends that. So far so good! I need about three more of these to cover the garage and the basement.
