We had some really wicked thunderstorms pass through our area recently and our house took a near direct hit from lighting. We got very lucky that with the exception of some minor things, we didn't have any damage to our major appliances and our house didn't catch fire.
I was also glad to have received the Johnson Bailey Mesh Screen to review because that lightning strike blew up our transformer and the only thing we could do to try to stay comfortable after days of triple digit temperatures was to open as many windows as we could and hope the night air would suffice. We knew it would be hours and possibly a full day before our power was restored.
Last week we laid our grandpa to rest. Technically step-grandpa on my husband's side, but it never felt like that. When his mother re-married, her husband's parents welcomed us with open arms and loved us like we were their blood relations.
After several weeks of really hot, triple digit temperatures, we are getting a dose of some cooler weather, even some rain. I received the Zume Magnetic Screen Door to review and it is lovely for enjoying the cool breezes without being restricted from getting in and out.
Dealey Plaza is written by John Russo, the man that brought us Night of the Living Dead. I have not only never read that one, I have never seen the movie. I wasn't sure whether to expect out and out horror or not! While it is not horror of the zombie-eating-your-face-off variety, it is a more subtle type horror. The title had me ready for a rehash of the JFK assassination, but it's not that either. What it is, is a tale of a group of people that are all part of a brutal crime, the aftermath of the crime and the paths their lives take in the years afterwards.
I have a few words that stick in my mind often. One is Faith. What must sometimes must seem like flying by the seat of our pants, is often the faith that things will work out the way they are supposed to or the way that is best for us. We have never really planned things very far in advance. There have really only been a few things we ever did plan ahead of time. One was our wedding. The other was our son. And that second one took a while to come to fruition. One of my other favorite words has sustained me through our trying times: Hope.
I don't mind rain that much. As a person that loves plants, I know the benefits of rain far outweighs any reason I might grumble about it. However, there are times where I don't want to arrive at my destination dripping wet.
I received the Procella Travel Umbrella to review right as we entered into a stretch of daily thunderstorms that brought us a lot of rain. I love the quality of this umbrella!
"No need to watch where I'm going. Just need to know where I've been" -Mater in the movie Cars
I have always chuckled at that line. It has a ring of truth to it, but we also need to know where we are, in order to know where we are going. That's were the Lensatic Compass from Under Control Tactical can come in handy. I was fortunate to review on for myself!
I love bright colors. They are just cheerful and happy! I was excited when I found out I was going to get to review these Hawaiian Hibiscus Flower Hair Clips because I had a few ideas swirling through my head.....
