Eco at Heart Stainless Steel Drinking Straws

I don't know what expectations I had, but Eco at Heart Stainless Steel Drinking Straws are really cool. I received a pack of these straws for the purpose of review and I am so glad that I did! My unwise, younger self used to buy the big packs of plastic straws to use and home. And then the occasional take out sack would have several straws thrown in.... In recent years we have been conscious of the things we use and trying to teach our son better habits. 

It did take me a little bit to get used to these straws, mostly because they are metal and I wasn't used to using a metal straw. They are slightly larger than what I was used to, but again, after using them a few times, I was used to them and comfortable. The size makes them awesome for smoothies!

They are nice and sturdy 18/8 stainless steel. I like to carry at least one with me so I don't have to ask for or use plastic ones if we go out.  

I love that there are 5 in a pack so the other members of my family can use them as well. The package also contains a brush that makes cleaning them super easy. They are also dishwasher safe.

They are 100% stainless steel so I don't have to worry that they will rust or change in any way and I don't have to worry about dangerous BPA like plastic straws. 

I feel good about using products that are reusable and don't just go to the landfill. We have made changes in our home as a family over the last several years. It just makes sense ecologically and economically. The Eco At Heart website has a Native American proverb that I like:

“We do not inherit the planet from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children”

I like (hope) that through the choices and changes we have made and continue to make, we pass the message to our son that we can't have a "disposable" mentality. I starts with one choice, even one as small as a straw!
