Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Eye Cream & Lash Serum Duo Review

I received the free sample of Olay Lash Duo from Vocal Point and I have used it for two weeks. On all but a couple of days  I used it twice a day, once in the morning and once at night per the directions. I used the Lash Serum in the mornings. I don't know if you can see any difference in the photos, but I instantly liked the feel of my lids after applying  the eye cream.

First day - right after applying
They felt and looked smoother. Within a few days my lids and under eye area felt better than they have in a long time. My under eye area had become sensitive in a way that rubbing it hurt a little and left it feeling raw for hours afterward. That is gone since using this serum. By the end of the first week I feel like I am losing fewer lashes since using the lash serum! That has me excited because for the last several years my lashes seem to fall out frequently and of course get in my eye and hurt like mad! And then the rubbing begins, and the pain and raw feeling.. It's just a big vicious circle!
Same eye - two weeks later.

In the midst of trying the serum, I began getting less and less sleep... I go through cycles where I get my days and nights mixed up. It takes anywhere from a few days to two weeks to get straightened back out. After a few days of staying up way too late and getting 2 or three hours of sleep after getting my guys out the doorin the morning, my under eyes usually starts looking like I am a hideous undead creature. There are dark circles and enough luggage to go on a round the world trip!  I still have not gotten gotten back to sleeping at night and there isn't even an overnight bag under there! Nice!

And because I hate spending money and love a good bargain, I was equally pleased that it takes very little of the eye cream to cover the entire eye area so you're getting your money's worth with this product! I used the tiniest of dots for each eye. This one tube should last me at least two months! I'm not sure the lash serum will last that long, I suspect it will since I usually only apply it in the morning. This is priced at $25.99 at the P&G Store and $22.44 at Walmart.com. My first reaction is always "whoa that's a lot of money!", but when I look at the small it takes for the cream to be effective and you figure the cream with last at least 2 months, at the Walmart price, it's only about $0.38 a day! Use a coupon (I have recently seen some $3 off coupons!) to purchase and that amount per day is even less! And the longer it takes to use up all the cream the cost per day would just keep dropping.

I am pretty impressed by the results so far and feel like there were noticeable improvements. I can say I would not hesitate to mention this to my family and friends. Thank you Vocal Point for the opportunity to try products for free!

DISCLOSURE: I am a member of Vocal Point and received this product as part of a free sampling program. However I was not paid for this post and this review is my honest opinion of this product.

Preparing for Spring Part II

A few days ago I posted photos of my lettuce and celery that I started growing in the window sill. Here are my updated photos... The celery is growing at an amazing rate!

Lettuce - Day 5 (04-08-13)

I am just waiting to see how this grows out... the lettuce i have grown in the garden in the past, came up more as a stalk that I cut the leaves from... I have never grown heads of lettuce.....
Celery - Day 5 (04-08-13)
I am super excited by this! For me it means I can possible grow celery all year, moving it indoors during winter! I was already considering some form of an indoor garden and this definitely has my creative juices flowing!!

Limp Lettuce - Day 5 (04-08-13)
The third photo is the lettuce that was limp.I cut away the outer most layers because they had gotten slimy and were making the water nasty everyday. It is growing at a slower rate at this point but there is a tiny shoot of new growth coming from the center, so I am giving it the benefit of the doubt and going to see if it'll do anything more.

Now to go get the tiller out..........

Preparing for Spring

I normally don't mind Winter. I grew up in areas where Winter weather included snow. LOTS of snow. That stayed on the ground for months and months. Here it gets cold and when we DO get snow it is usually only a few inches and it is more an inconvenience than anything because it shuts everything down. The road departments don't have the equipment needed so even a few inches can bring everything to a halt. Mostly though Winter is cold and dreary. This year it seems like it has been drawn out longer than usual and I am SO ready for the cold weather to move out of here! I'm hoping to till my garden this weekend. I have gotten a few things started in the house and the more progress I see, the more Spring fever hits me. I have been seeing posts on Facebook about growing foods from the parts we usually throw away. Things like celery, lettuce, etc.  In my case our two bunnies usually get to munch our leftovers. After seeing those posts a few times it must have gotten stuck in my head because the other day I was getting a carrot for the bunnies and realized I had a fresh head of lettuce, a fresh stalk of celery and the remnants of one that wasn't fresh... okay it was so limp I wouldn't have let my bunnies see it let alone eat it! Those posts started swirling inside my head again and I was like woo hoo! It's like finding out you have everything you need to do one of the projects you've pinned to your pinterest board! The directions were simple: Chop off the end you usually throw away and place it in water..  So that's what I did.. I even chopped the end off the limp celery just to see if anything would happen.. So here are my Day 2 photos... there is already very noticeable growth on the fresh celery and lettuce! On the lettuce there are new green shoots coming out between the old leaves.
Lettuce Growth - Day 2 (04-05-13)

On the celery, the growth is coming up from the center of the stalk stump.....

Celery Growth - Day 2 (04-05-13)

There was the tiniest amount of growth on the limp celery heart and it wasn't photographing well so I will give it a few more days so the growth will be noticeable in a picture. I wish I had known this stuff sooner! I could have had a stalk forest!

My Kid Makes Me Laugh

Our son's interpretation of things is a view all his own! He makes us laugh all the time. So maybe you know how popular this Zombie craze is right now...We have watched a few episode of The Walking Dead... I am a Stephen King fan.....I just usually leave the zombies on the page.....  well, Good Friday coincided with Little Man's Spring Break, so we got one of our nieces and one of our nephews to spend the afternoon with us. They were excited because we were taking them bowling, but first we took them to get something to eat. The kids were sitting across from us at the table and talking animatedly back and forth. The conversation came around to the nephew saying he didn't think he had to go to school the following Monday, which led to a short debate over whether they did or didn't and our son saying he KNEW he didn't have school that day (Our son goes to a Christian school and they both go to county schools, so they have different schedules). All this talk of what day they did or didn't have school led for the nephew to ask when Good Friday was... and an conversation ensued that I could not have predicted in a million years!

The Nephew: When is Good Friday?
The Son and The Niece: Today
The Nephew (after a few seconds of thought): Oh. What IS Good Friday?
The Son and The Niece: It's when Christ was crucified!
The nephew (again, turning this over in his mind): Well what is Easter then?!?!
The Niece: It when He arose from the tomb
The Son: Yeah. He was crucified and then you know... (holding his arms our in front of him, but in a matter-of-fact voice)  He Caaammmee Baaaack!!

I almost shot a carrot out of my nose and The Dad nearly choked! We couldn't stop laughing! That particular interpretation of the Resurrection had never even remotely entered our minds! I will tell you that little Man doesn't think Christ is actually a Zombie. He attends a Christian school and they have prayers, study religion almost everyday and full Chapel service on Wednesdays. He is just also a big comedic ham too! :)
Him making us laugh just lightens the day! I'm glad he can laugh because it sure turns things around sometimes. What do your kids do that make you laugh out loud?
